No bathroom extractor system working so shaving after showering is impossible. Trying to dry oneself In junglelike conditions not easy. Apparently there is a defect in rooftop plant. First morning, breakfast English tea available, following two mornings not available. Purchased our own at local store. Tonight we went to beech facility for a nightcap. First entry advised due to a private party we need to go to the other end entrance which on arrival was closed or as the sign stated ferme? Got back to hotel circa. 2145hrs to find the bar closed. A US guest was having a drink in reception to say that the bar closed twenty minutes before for some unknown reason. Reception advised that the bar will open when the staff have had their break. They then asked what we would like and we requested a wine list which was the last contact after they advised there were other bars near the hotel??? Having stayed at this hotel a number of times early 2000, I am sad to see a such a decline in standards. Having spent 45 years plus exporting all over the globe staying in doss houses to five star plus hotels I find these few incidents and observations worrying as the prices are not particularly high I have have had a far better customer experience costing less. I fear that the demand is so high that the modus operandi is no different to airport hotels were service levels are secondary to customers satisfaction!
This hotel is in an excellent location. We have stayed here at least 6 or 7 times. The breakfast is ok, the scrambled eggs are very liquidy but at least they have some fruit, bread, cereal and different juices to offer. The rooms themselves are ok, some better than others. But you can't beat the location.
I think the breakfast could be better. The first couple of times that we stayed here, the decor of the hotel was better. They had typical Provence items on display which really made you feel that you were in Nice. However, they changed the decor and made it very modern and they use stones and pictures of stones all over the place. I don't think that was very good thinking....I Liked it much better before....I Still stay there because of the location.
The location of the hotel cannot be beaten, near to the beach and to the restaurants and bars of the old town as well as being to the centre of Nice and transport links. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent.
Comfort had given way to some extent to interior design in the rooms
The Hotel is extremely well situated being close to the Promenade Anglais, the beach , the old town of Nice and the shops.
The room was small. The lift did not operate properly if more than 3 people were in it. TH ewardrobes were small and one had no hangars and it took me 3 days to get some in spite of asking at reception.
Great location beside the old town and beach.
Access to the beach should be included
Hotel Location is very good. Some staff were helpful
mantenance was poor(air con not working handle fell off bathroom door and toilet roll holder hanging off. wall no action despite faults being reported Breakfast room chaotic because of Trafalgar tour party -most food items missing staff overstressed and unhelpful because of pressure-because of this decided to breakfast elsewhere. Worst stay in France out of seven !
Allocated poor ROOM-room 118 only suitable for one person but had a double bed. I took 5 guests to this hotel - another room used by two of them had no air conditioning -offered a fan.
It was excellently situated between beach, old town, shopping. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, especially when we had a problem.
Room was smaller than anticipated and air con, although working appeared to have a smell, not enough to detract from trip.
Staff was very, very helpful - especially Monica. The location is terrific. Room was very comfortable and liked that the bathroom was bigger than the previous hotels I stayed at in Paris. Would go there again.
Even though they have free WiFi, it would be nice to have a computer in the lobby for those who do not bring their laptop. Maybe give each room a 1/2 hour free each day.
The location of the hotel and Plage Beau Rivage is the main reason we stay here. There are a couple of nice and helpful front desk staff members (mainly the staff who have been there for several years), but there are also some new and very indifferent staff members at the front desk. I really like the way the hotel was decorated with the concept of rocks at the beach and simple but beautiful plants for room decoration.
I have stayed here since 1988 and this time was a real reduction in hotel standards. The room we were assigned (Room 222) had a large drying rack which was pulled and falling off the wall, and it could have hit a person on the head if it fell. Then, when I was ready to take a shower the shower handle for turning on the shower came off the wall into my hand. This room should never have been rented out, especially to returning guests of the past 23 years. The front desk took a long time to have this repaired, but then expected us to stay there whenever it was finally repaired. We only got moved after I patiently insisted to speak with the manager. Also, the beach waiters consistently ignore us (for, like 45 minutes) all the time when we want to order drinks/snacks on the beach. The only way to order something is to go to the front desk where the beach towels are located. We stay here for the location and the beach. I would be willing to pay more for this hotel, but certainly not with the poor condition of the equipment and indifferent staff. The indifferent management of this hotel has slipped so far now that this is no longer a 4 star hotel. We will go directly to Villefranche, where the standards are far higher at the 4 star Hotel Welcome.
Excellent location, can't be better. Everything is around - fine restaurants, shops, beach - whatever you want. The bed was big and comfortable.
Although the stone decor is nice, the hotel seems to need some renovation. The people at reception are nice and polite but a bit slow- we had to wait in line for check in and check out for half an hour. The minibar's fridge in the room did not work, they came several times but didn't manage to fix it.
Its location to the finish of the Haute Route cyclo sportive
We found the location to be the best asset of the property.
The hotel doorman/bellman was very nice and informative, but did not deliver the luggage as promised. We had to ask for the luggage to be delivered. The evening/night front desdk clerk was non helpful and rude when addressing our complaint for poor A/C and the need for a fan. Although the fan was delivered, her mannerisms were less than desirable in the Hotel industry. The A/C system was converted to a master controlled system set to hot, so we had no control of the rooms settings. The system was lowered to a more comfortable temperature the following day.
the location was perfect for the beach, shops and restaurants. THe staff on reception were very helpful
It was a pity there was no area to sit outside and have a glass of wine or even breakfast. Service in the restaurant in the mornings could be variable
